Manifest Some Hard Work

If you’ve read enough self help books, watch, listen to or read life coaches or motivational speakers, you’ve inevitably heard about manifesting. Whatever it is you want whether it be a better job, higher income, the love of your life, your dream house, there is a lot of information out there about “manifesting it in your existence and into your life”. Honestly, this is a slippery slope for me. While I believe in the power of positive thinking, knowing what you want and envisioning it, the real secret lies within formulating a plan actually doing the work to get it. I’ve talked to enough people, you may know some as well, who fall too far into the power of manifestation. Some people are all about believing that you can have it, asking the universe for whatever it is they want, but they don’t actually do a damn thing to make it happen.
When in life is anything just handed to you? It never has been for me, I’ve had to go get it, regardless of how much I wanted it or thought I deserved it. You’ll hear the manifestors say things like “you put that out in the universe and it came to you!” But they just see the end result, they gloss over the work put in to achieve the end result. Because it’s easier to just hope and want more, and it’s hard to get more. Believing fully in manifesting is just like believing in luck. Sure at times you’ll get lucky, however if it’s time and time again it’s not luck, it’s skill and determination. It’s like the quote from the film producer Samuel Goldwyn “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
Manifesting like anything else is supposed to be a tool. There is no doubt that positive thoughts and energy can help you get to where you want to go. There have been scientific studies done that show that while being happy makes you smile as we are well aware, the exact opposite is true too. If you smile, you’ll be happy, if you frown you’ll be sad. So this does point to the idea that if you think positively you will be more positive, which is always helpful when trying to improve your life.
Believing in manifestation without the work is like waiting to hit the lottery. I’m sure you’ve heard people see a nice car or beautiful house and say “when I win the lottery I’m buying that!” The problem is, these people don’t believe they can actually get that thing they want. They’re only hope is something like the lottery. But you’re not going to win the lottery, you don’t have a long list rich uncle who left you a fortune. If you’re going to manifested a better existence then be ready to start the grind to see that vision into reality.
